Young, Erkki, CR 7
Erkki has been a dragon off on his own for some time now, and has learned the fine art of survival. While he wont back away from a fight, he doesn’t feel a particular need to provoke one with anything that stands a threat. If challenged, he will fight tactically and use his arial superiority to keep warriors at a range.

If possible, Erkki uses his new mage armor ability prior to combat. Regardless, most combats with Erkki consist of strafing breath weapon attacks, with him only landing to engage if his opponents show resistance to fire. If unable to cast it prior to combat, Erkki will breath weapon first, then fly to safety and cast mage armor during a round in which his breath weapon is recharging.
Breath Weapon SU: as a standard action, once per 1d4 rounds, Erkki can breathe a cone of fire 40ft long dealing 6d10 fire damage reflex save DC 22.

Lair
Erkki has nestled into the caldera of a dormant volcanoe, and lairs here practicing his arcane skills. Gysers of flame will shoot up, breaking through the ground on occasion, which make any fight in his lair all the more dangerous.

Grímsvötn prefers to fight from ambush. She will cast mage armor, and open with a breath weapon to weaken her foes, before engaging in melee. If the fight seems to be going poorly, she will circle above alternating breath weapons and magic missiles. If during this process, she determins it to be ineffective, she will leave, and return to fight that night while her foes sleep.

Lair
Grímsvötn lairs in the abandoned remains of a dwarven mining outpost. The forward party arrived, made the region safe, and had just set about starting to mine, when Grímsvötn came upon them.

Järvelä makes good use of his fear aura and will make certain his foes see him before engaging with them. That doesn’t mean he is foolish though, and leaves mage armor cast all day, expending two spell slots to do so. Often times, he will fly past a group once (way out of bow range) to evaluate response and gauge their threat level. If they flee, he will chase them down and eat them quickly. If they hunker down to prepare for a fight, he will circle for a minute or so, and then fly off. Repeating this every hour until they flee or ignore him. Then he cast’s see invisibility and mirror image before flying in for strafing attacks and melee combat. His goal in these back and forth engagements is to trick his prey into burning through prepared spells for the day prior to fighting.
Breath Weapon SU: as a standard action, once per 1d4 rounds, Järvelä can breathe a cone of fire 50ft long dealing 10d10 fire damage reflex save DC 28.
Frightful Presence EX: Järvelä can unsettle foes with his mere presence. The ability takes effect automatically whenever he attacks, charges, or flies overhead. Creatures within a radius of 150ft are subject to the effect if they have fewer than 19 hit die. A potentially affected creature that succeeds on a Will save (DC 24) remains immune to Järvelä’s frightful presence for 24 hours. On a failure, creatures with 4 or less HD become panicked for 4d6 rounds and those with 5 or more HD become shaken for 4d6 rounds.

Lair
Järvelä makes his home at the top of an open and active volcanoe, and lairs in an old lava tube accessible only from near the surface level of the magma itself. Anyone attempting to gain entrance has to not only deal with active bursts of magma and a precarious climb, but also huge clouds of pitch black smoke.
