A start for many to come.
This is the first blog post for my RPG design blog. I expect there will be many more to come. Because its just me, and maybe some people I know who feel like it, I don’t have a regular posting cadence to walk you through or what to expect. Thank you for taking the time to read, and being a part of the journey. I hope my volumes of homebrew and musings help you take your game to the next level.
Why do this?
- Exposure and repository. I’ve got reams and reams of homebrew content stashed on my computer, and various forums throughout the years. I use maybe 1% of the stuff I write, and others are probably using less than that. This site can serve as a consistent, easily search-able repository for my musings that I can reference back to.
- Practice and learning. In the few showroom entries I’ve posted so far, I’ve already had to clean up my language and writing skills. Mostly this is just removing shorthand and jargon, but some is simply basic writing stuff.
- Improve the community. It’s a lofty goal, but I’d like to foster more critical analysis of RPG products and analysis. A lot of the RPG blogs out there tend not to include much analysis, focusing instead on the subject and elevator pitch, and less on the end product. I hope to bring a mix of both.
Thank you for spending your time, and I do hope you feel encouraged to post in the comments and share your feedback.
