I’ve backed a few Greedy Gorgon books in the past and always enjoyed them. Particularly their Stairway to Heaven Rock themed adventure. So, this morning was a pleasant treat when I caught, they have a new kickstarter on the horizon, Killer of Giants.

As a lover of giants, I figured I’d take a look. This is a collection of 7 “Hits” on giants, which should give a bit of replayability, or variety so you can slip in whichever one makes the most sense for your ongoing campaign, or string them together into a standalone. I love a short adventure I can slip into an existing campaign as side quest, so this will see heavy rotation.
Browsing the kickstarter brief, in addition to the adventures themselves, there seems to be a nice framework to design your own. Sounds handy for expanding the longevity of the adventure once your players have slain all 7. There’s also some trap creation rules, which is something players are always asking DMs to improvise on the spot out of nowhere.
As for which 5e game this will be for, the kickstarted promises backwards compatibility. I reached out to the Gorgons and asked how they intend to do this, and thought I’d share their reply…
Krusk: Do you have any particular method in mind to ensure 2024 v 2012 compatibility? Or will one of the two games rulesets take priority when you are writing it? As you say "WOTC have promised that it's backwards compatible, but, well, y'know ..."
Gorgon: so the method is essentially checking all the information that's coming in and seeing if there's easy fixes but, if not, I'll add an appendix so it can be run on 2024 rules. At the moment, the biggest one is the lack of a surprise round - which the game was kinda designed with surprise rounds in mind! However, it's a simple rule addition and one thing DMs are good at is balancing the millions of rules all at once so I don't think this will be much of a problem.
If you’re into Fun content, I’d recommend giving the Gorgons a shot. Based on their past stuff, they focus their games on big, exciting, fun concepts that leave the players talking.
